Robot Arms

Billington Safety Systems are the sole UK Distributor for Robot System Products who are based in Sweden, we have been working closely with them now for a number of years.

RSP supplies a wide variety of products for the robotics industry, the peripherals dress your robot for work, and with most of the items bolting directly to your robot they are very simple and cost-effective, whilst offering high quality, flexibility and functionality.

The tool changers are designed to maximize the flexibility and reliability of your robot fleet. Robustness and high safety are combined with low weight and compactness. Depending on the model and options, electrical signals, weld and servo power, data, water and compressed air are transferred from the robot side to the tool.

The patented locking device TrueConnect™ has a minimum of play and gives a practical, through the lifespan, absolute positioning repeatability. Its unique design doesn’t require exact positioning when docking with different tools. The principle behind the locking mechanism is the uniform distribution of load, obtained by pressing looking balls into spherical grooves. In consequence, substantially larger positional tolerances are accepted during docking. The wide range of products we supply is available for all major robot brands and comes with complete documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Industrial robotic arms have many different uses. They are commonly used in manufacturing and industrial settings to perform tasks that are either too difficult or too dangerous for humans. For example, they can be used to weld delicate parts together or to lift heavy objects.

Robotic arms are also used in medicine. They can be used to assist surgeons in performing delicate operations or to help rehabilitate patients who have lost the use of their own arms.

In addition, robotic arms are used in scientific research and space exploration. They can be used to perform experiments or to operate remotely controlled vehicles.

Unveiling the Pinnacle of Innovation: Robot Arms

The Evolution from the Human Arm to Robotic Arms

The concept of robotic arms finds its inspiration in the complex structure of the human arm. Equipped with rotary joints and articulations, robotic arms can accomplish tasks ranging from heavy-duty lifting to intricate assembly operations. Whereas the human arm has limitations in strength and precision, robotic arms are engineered to excel where we falter.

Cylindrical Robotic Arms & The Cylindrical Coordinate System

A fascinating type of robotic arm is the cylindrical robotic arm. This type utilises the cylindrical coordinate system to navigate and execute tasks in a three-dimensional space. The system’s dimensions are defined in terms of radial distance, axial height, and angular rotation, much like cylindrical coordinates in mathematical terms. This offers the arm a balance between flexibility and strength, perfect for handling machine tools in industrial settings.

Rotary Joints: The Heart of Mobility

Rotary joints are the cornerstone of a robotic arm’s function. These components permit the arm to rotate along multiple axes, allowing for superior manoeuvrability. Specialised versions, such as the twisting joint, offer an additional layer of articulation that makes them ideal for more complex tasks like arc welding or assembly operations.

Industrial Applications

Robotic arms are indispensable in various industries worldwide. From guiding conveyor belts in manufacturing plants to intricate laboratory automation, these arms are reshaping the way we think about automation and efficiency.

Robotics in Arc Welding

In particular, arc welding has been revolutionised with the use of robotic arms. The need for precision and safety makes a robotic arm the perfect candidate for this high-stakes operation. With enhanced stability and precision, arc welding has never been safer or more efficient.

The Future is Now

Robotic arms are no longer the stuff of science fiction; they are a reality that is transforming industries and automating tasks across three-dimensional space. As technology continues to evolve, we can only anticipate the incredible feats these arms will achieve in the coming years.
